Allright, our example is of a young family with a new addition, a little baby girl. The old 5kg capacity washing machine has to go. They do their sums and reach the conclusion that they can borrow the money for an 8.5kg capacity washer and afford to make the repayments with no ill effects on the family’s economy.

Edmonton: A year of reconciliation

This week marks the one year anniversary since the Truth and Reconciliation Commission concluded in Edmonton.This commission was set up over 5 years ago in order to investigate what happened in the residential schools that were set up to “eliminate parental involvement  in the intellectual, cultural, and spiritual development of Aboriginal children” across Canada. Following the truth commission, Mayor Don Iveson declared the first year following the commission as the “year of reconciliation”. In its efforts towards reconciliation the city of Edmonton set  three goals in order to improve relations with indigenous residents. One of its goals included creating more spaces for the celebration of aboriginal culture. By creating such spaces the government is ensuring that the aboriginal population in Edmonton has access to their culture and their identity. The family is now effectively in Deficit, BUT, they improved the quality of their lives i.e. less visits to their laundry room, less effort and a lot of time saved which they can spend on leisure and more quality time with their kids.

I wonder if a “Treasurer” of the caliber of Mr. Hockey (.77) would have the wits to have an inkling of what I am writing about.

The lies that he has spread about these two easily understood concepts of DEFICIT and SURPLUS will send him to the Soup Kitchen for defeated Arse Lickers.

This is what is happening in our town. Whilst walking the dog, this thing had been stepped on by a motorbike or a horse, contents nowhere to be seen, kids could pick them up. Just thrown out of a car window. Innocents are at risk.

I’ve been raving on about these terms which have become so boring , for want of a more accurate (expletive) term, to describe my feelings.I’ve been looking at Leftist “intellectuals” who are obviously more elitist than the people from the Right who they accuse of being “Elitist”. They claim to be Lefties but continue to deride the “little people” who they claim to be supporting. In my future posts I will be exploring this hypocrisy in further detail. Ungreedy vs Greedy seems to me to be much preferable to Left vs Right.

Reconciliation

Reconciliation and other closely related topics are high on the Old Fella’s agenda. We’ll start with some illustrations of the INCLUSIVE nature of Australian Aboriginal Culture, beginning with the Maccassans in northern Australia around 600 or so years ago.

This INCLUSIVE quality stands in opposition to the European qualities of EXCLUSIVE and ALIENATING.

I’m studying hard to ensure that I do a good piece of work on this one as it is so important to the soul of our Country/Nation/Place where we live.

Creative Swearing

Australian swearing should be the best and most beautiful swearing in the world. We should stand head and shoulders above the other swearing Nations but at the moment we are lagging.

Our swearing is reviled the world over for it’s repetitiveness, predictability and simply too many expletives per sentence.

TAFS is the Old Fulla’s answer to this this Sociolinguistic backwater that we find ourselves drowning in.

On these pages I will be laying the foundation stones of The Institute of Technical and Further Swearing.(TAFS) Only through education will we regain the swearing excellence which is our birthright!
